When it comes to delivering framing packages and structural building components to some of the most remote and challenging locations around the globe, Winton Homes has a long-standing history. From the expansive landscapes of Canada and the United States to the distant shores of Chile, England, Japan, Russia, and beyond, our homes and components have made their way to nearly every corner of the world.
One of our latest ventures brings us to the heart of British Columbia, to the rugged and breathtaking Sugarbowl-Grizzly Den Provincial Park, approximately 95km east of Prince George and includes the Grand Canyon of the Fraser. Here, amidst towering trees and serene mountain views, stands a testament to what’s possible with dedication, precision, and a love for the wilderness: The Grizzly Den Cabin.
This two-story backcountry cabin, designed for those who crave adventure and solitude, is not just a place to stay—it's a project that embodies the essence of backcountry building. Winton has supplied the floors, walls, and trusses for this cabin, each piece engineered to withstand the unique challenges of remote construction. What makes this project even more remarkable is the delivery method: each component was airlifted by helicopter to the build site, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding natural beauty as it’s an important caribou movement corridor.
Once the materials touched down in the picturesque backcountry, the skilled team at Robson Design Build took over, expertly assembling the cabin on-site. This isn’t the first time Winton has partnered with top-notch builders to create something extraordinary in the wild, and it certainly won’t be the last.
The Grizzly Den Cabin is more than just a building; it's a symbol of what can be achieved when innovation meets nature. For backcountry enthusiasts, it represents the perfect blend of comfort and rugged adventure—a retreat that harmonizes with its surroundings while offering a cozy, welcoming space to relax after a day of exploration.
As the project continues, we’re excited to share more updates and videos from the build. Whether you’re dreaming of your own backcountry escape or simply curious about the possibilities of prefab construction in remote locations, stay tuned.
